It seems that any time you try to order fries at a fast food restaurant the cashier always wants to get you to "go biggie" and order the largest version of whatever you were ordering. Now, aside from the obvious health implications, you didn't want to get a pound of fries staring at you! Simpler is usually better - in food and sometimes in technology.
Take Facebook, for example. It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the bells and whistles, the loss of privacy and the countless stories you didn't need to see. This can especially be an issue when trying to connect families together across town or across the country. I have found an answer for you: Tapestry. This free app was created to "help seniors stay connected to their families, their friends and their communities."
It offers a private mini social network just for those you want to be in it, has a very simple and intuitive interface and, best of all, it's free! Meant to connect all ages of your family youngest to oldest, it allows you to share photos and messages, check the weather and to quickly find out what everyone is up to. It's home screen is colorful, very intuitive and inviting. I recommend Tapestry for any family looking for a way to connect that is ad-free, very easy to use and encourages all ages to connect.
